Adsense + Video Player = is this placement allowed?

    Hello,

    I just tried to use a preroll overlay ads on my videoplayer... I have read the Adsense TOS around 5 times... and I cannot say this type of placement is not allowed. So I need feedback... I have added other 2 networks on this adzone... and Adsense is the one that is pretty much paying higher than the other network... I just hope that I will not get banned when it is time for revenue check at the end of the month...

    if it is really "NOT" allowed.. then it is already too late... because I just earned 2 digits $ for this for 2 days.. so I will just have to expect google to close my account or should I ask for sorry about this and remove adsense code in the adzone? Please help...

    I should have asked google first before implementing it...

    I really am hoping and praying that this is allowed... The video player is cannot be accessed until the user close the ad which contains either Adsense banner and other filler Ad networks. But I am more concern about Adsense because the earning is a bit higher on this zone.

    Another thing that is giving me peace of mind is the midroll 468x60 banner that appears on youtube videos. Youtube are obviously owned my Google... so I hope what ever policy they have on the company applies to every body including youtube. (I am thinking that they used it on youtube so it should be allowed on others too like me)

    Ive seen this many times on sites, I don't think it is allowed because your drawing to much attention to the adsense ad. It's allowed on youtube if you have a adsense for video account I think.

    Hi craig105,

    Thank you for the comment.
    I don't see the "drawing too much attention to the adsense ad" is not allowed on the policy and TOS of adsense though... :(

    on the Prohibited use: number 2...

    (ii) edit, modify, filter, truncate or change the order of the information contained in any Ad, Link, Ad Unit, Search Result, or Referral Button, or remove, obscure or minimize any Ad, Link, Ad Unit, Search Result, or Referral Button in any way without authorization from Google;

    I do not think this apply to any...
    but I do not know... that is why I am asking for a valid reason why is this not allowed and show me in the TOS and PRIVACY...

    I think thats WAY too risky... it is highlighting the advert in a way, I would not do that if I were you.

    I do something similar to this on one of my high traffic video sites. I recieved successful payment for December without any problem. Many of my "rivals" have also been doing this for many, many months and they are still using google adsense now.

    As long as there is a clear way to close the advert that works on ALL browsers and no loophole forcing viewers to click an advert they aren't interested in you have no problem from my experience. Yes it 'highlights' the advert but I don't see where it says this isn't allowed. As long as it is made clear that you can watch the video without clicking the advert all is good.

    You'll also find even large companies such as freedocast use a similar script and have been doing so since they launched. They're surely earning $xx,xxx monthly from google and are still using adsense.

    However, if you are really worried either contact google for confirmation. or just use Clicksor/Adbrite/Bidvetiser/etc.
