Okay, I understand that this question is a hard one to answer. I've received a query from a business today asking how much I would charge them to advertise on my site. They are a pet insurance company & I have an article on pet insurance. I don't know if they are actually aware of the article, or have stumbled upon my site in general. In May my homepage received 20,000 hits & the insurance article received 270 hits (sad I know). So, I wanted to get back to them with a price on advertising on the homepage or the insurance page. But have absolutely no idea what to quote them.

    Any ideas?

search for the affiliate programs ... find out the payments they are offering.... and charge them as follows:

    Avg Comm for pet insurance * 365 / 4

i think this mch would be suffiecient...

also look up for the worth of the BUSINESS who asked for the advert placement...

Compare it to Adwords rates. Also, if the advertiser is only trying to attract a portion of your web visitors, I would take this into account aswell.

You have to ask for a price higher than the money you'll receive from AdSense. otherwise it is better to place Google ads. I think you can ask up to $100 per month... if you mean that 20,00 hits are real visitors.

dont delay to finalise the deal as they may even change the mind (if stretched alot)... also do some research on the PET insurance affiliate payouts and ask for somewhat common... and even if the business hesitate to close the deal... then pm me as i think i may help (may be...)...
