Advice on marketing a new social bookmarking site

    Hello everyone,

    I have been working on customizing a Pligg site with a pretty decent template. The site is LinkSlap.com. I decided to go after the web developers niche. It seems like there are few places for social bookmarking exclusively for designers and programmers.

    Anyways, I have found out that marketing on basically a zero dollar budget does not get me far. I have done some directory submissions and a few link trades, both nothing solid yet for promotion.

    I don't have any ads on the site yet. Just because I want to build up a level of traffic before I do display advertising.

    What would you guys suggest to get the ball rolling with this site? After the first of the year, I should have some money to throw at it, but I would like to see traffic before then.
