against google terms?

I emailed google about ad placement on my site www.gamecloud.net a few days ago concerned about having game images next to my ads being a violation of their terms. I got an email back saying:

    >remove the images next to the ads

because removing the images would make the site look incomplete/empty i decided to make a "sponsored link" image(currently on site).

i emailed him back and told him to check it again and got this back..

    >Thank your for making some changes to your site. Unfortunately your site
still does not comply with our program policies. We ask that you provide
greater distinction between the Google ads and the content of your site.
Please move the Google ads to another location, where they may not be
mistaken as part of your content.

now i am getting a little aggravated because an hour before he had told me that the images were the problem(i did what i thought was fixing them) and now he is telling me that i have to remove my ads from the content..

i email him back asking if i can just take out the images like he said in the first place and get this in response..

    >We ask that you do not misleadingly blend or draw undue attention to the Google ads. Currently it appears that the Google ads are part of the content of your site. Please remove the “sponsored link” images and place a visible border around the Google ads to distinguish that the Google ads are not part of your site. Thanks for your cooperation.

is blending google ads against their TOS? he went from wanting me to remove the images to wanting me to basically take out my google ads so i don't know what to think. any advice on what to do?

    Thanks

    That's great blending.

You could place a border between Sponsored links and Action.

Yea, I think you should put a border around your ads.

That's interesting that they(he) made you do that. It didn't really seem like it was in violation before. But that's just me...

I can't cite the source, but I remember reading somewhere (reasonably reliable) that a line separating the pics form the ads was ok, even if the "4 pictures" lined up nicely with the "4 ads". Essentially, that was given the greenlight, though again - I can't cite the source offhand, so proceed at your own discretion.

Google doesn't approve this technique anymore. Months ago, I got the greenlight. Just last week, out of paranoia, I emailed them again to check, I got a big N-O from them.

Yeah, they are also cracking down on people using such techniques.
