Trying to use Alexa toolbar and cannot get the toolbar up on my browser. I, along with Alexa's staff have tried everything. Are there any companies offering the same thing that Alexa offers?

    thanks

I've used the Alexa toolbar in the past and achieved higher "rankings" within their data doing so. Still, what do you have when all is said and done?

I must agree with Pyjama, I would suggest using the google toolbar instead.

I would personally recommend using *no toolbar*, but that's just my opinion :)

I think the question is what's the Alexa ranking and info good for?

Now on a more helpful note, what browser are you using? If it's IE, download & install the latest version/patch that might help

I'm using the info to find linking pages to target websites that are my competition. It has increased the speed at which I can locate similar niche markets.

Just go to alexa.com, somewhere in there is the related links without using the toolbar.

Your computer probably has an antispyware program keeping you from installing the alexa toolbar, which this is probably good.

Ignore the stats from alexa, they are pretty useless, but I can see why you would want to use the related info part of things.

IMHO - If you are trying to establish a base of advertising customers, the Alexa toolbar is sort of useful if you have decent traffic. The graphs and figures impress the pants of the gullible. BUT... it is easy to skew the figures.

Even by having the toolbar yourself you will find your Alexa ranking improving daily. If you convince your mum, Auntie Lil and best friend Bob to install the Alexa toolbar and set your website as their homepage each time they open their browser, you will burn up the Alexa charts like a rocket.

I was under 70,000 at one time on Alexa. It was great to see those charts but in my mind they were false. If they are so easy to manipulate, what use are those stats?

In the end, I took the toolbar off and don´t even look at where my site is on Alexa anymore. Of course, by then I had started getting ad clients so Alexa did serve a purpose for a while.
