Am I trying to be to tricky with my ads?

Discussion in 'Placement / Reviews / Examples' started by MrJW, Aug 24, 2006.

Its feeling to me like I'm tricking my visitors into clicking on my ads.

could someone shine some light on this? my click rate is VERY low right now, within the last 6 days I havent had a single click on any of my ads?
Any suggestions on placement? What am I doing wrong?

It doesnt look like your tricking anyone, if you were then you would have clicks. I suggest you try out a horizontal banner between two posts. If you arent getting any clicks you dont have anything to lose, you might as well experiment. Good luck.

I don't think you're trying to trick anyone either. I'm not an expert or anything, but what I'd do is use a text leaderboard probably where you currently have the link unit since you have full width available there, and move the link unit below the first post since it wouldn't take any extra room. If anything now, your regular links distract me from the ads. ;)

I would suggest dropping the text link ads at the top of the page down by a few pixels.

Your ads are just fine man :)

I would go even further with the integration, if I were you. But that's just me.

Ok I'm also alittle confused about the whole "3 ads only" rule.

That means I can only have 3 total adsense objects on my site? like text ad, google search + image ad? Or can I have 3 of each?

    I believe it's 1 link unit, 3 ads, 2 search boxes, and 4(?) referrals?

You could also try putting a small half banner in the actual posts.

Maybe you need some more keywords in your content. Every one of your ads is for the exact same thing: PSP downloads. Maybe if there was more variety in the ads, more people would have something to be interested in.

What do you think if I blocked some of the same ads from showing up?

900 impression and not 1 click? Then maybe the red is a little too strong. Have you tried using other colors that are a little more inviting?

Hmm, I just got a click, and I thought about it and the impressions could possibly be myself since I am heavily modifying my website and jumping through pages left and right

Yea now that I think about it It was probly 99% allme doing the impressions..

But I'm in need of different help now :D

Can anyone help me add the mod_rewrite module to my site so I can have friendly URL's? I've just spent the past 12 hours reading guides and testing things out but I havent gotten very far. I've went through about 3 guides so far :/

I know mod_rewrite is ON for my apache server and my ISP isn't any help at all when I called them

Yeah, check your server logs and see who the page impressions are from. If you got even 200 page impressions from real people, and no one clicked, then you need to change something fast. Your audience is young people who are having fun, and these type of people should give you well over 1 click per 100 page impressions.

I have tested some of my pages giving them black backgrounds and white writing, then changing to white background with black writing. The simple white page with black text and blue links is the best for getting clicks, almost twice as good, in my experience. It might look boring, but people expect links to be blue.
