Average yearly income in NYC is around $50,000 but then again the cost of living in NYC is a lot higher then most American cities.

In the UK its £5.35 per hour - which is about $10.70 per hour...

I suppose there are advantages to living in the UK... no wonder we have so many illegals... although so saying, the cost of living is probably higher in the UK than it is in America.

Well lets see I work in a call center and make around 25,000 per yr. My wife works as a police dispatcher and makes around 40,000 a yr. One daughter works at another call center and makes around 23,000.

State min 6.50, congress want to make a national min of about 7.50.

Most people that I know make between 20,000 and 40,000 per yr and need more than one income per household to be able to have a decent life.

Im not sure what your point is... we have a higher minimum wage and we have a technically free national health service (which we pay for through our taxes). Tbh the NHS really isn't that bad...

...there was actually a program shown over here in the UK about a bloke in America trying to live on minimum wage for 30 days... needless to say he found it near on impossible (it was the bloke who also did living off McDonalds for 30 days...)
