Note that e-books can also be bought on Amazon, and they seem to be returnable as per Amazon's digital products return policy, but I've not actually done that. As always, better to deal with a reputable company like Amazon or ClickBank when purchasing these kinds of things. And make sure the book has more than one or two pages! :)

visioninfotech, my sympathy for your rip off , it hurts for sure, if you can put it behind you ( after pursuing the fair course of action to recover amount, and it is possible the guy will refund> miracles happen especially when reputation is involved. The fact that he answered your email is a good sign)

My own experience is that honesty is well rewarded on the internet ( even more so than nomal business ) There are always scammers but you get a nose for them, most people will get burnt at least once on an internet transaction ( but once should be enough ) aye?

You should contact his host. Ask them to post a page about how it is fraud and he was posting fake stats. Host is http://bluewho.com/ . Also where is this "Success Forum" he is talking about?

I've ran into two weird, yet very interesting sites that don't sell anything but kind of make fun or report these types of scams. You guys might be interested in looking at (no affiliate or sales pages)

    http://thepoorjerk.net

This one pokes fun at the rich jerk site. In fact, if you look at the rich jerk's site and then look at this one, the headers are kind of funny when you compare the two and see the meaning behind each picture. This looks like one of those sites for highly intelligent people who can see the meaning behind all the jibberish. Don't expect a sales page. The language is simply weird and distorted, looks like done on purpose.

The second site deals with crap such as this one-page book and others and offers a free report in pdf format. Surprisingly, I got a huge PDF file with tons of FREE information. Somebody spent a long time putting that ebook together.

    http://toxicfreeopportunity.com - no sales here...free resource.

Here's the kicker though, read the author's name backwards!

I think the trick is to realize that everytime some guru or some "let me reveal you a secret" crap comes online, you can expect a lot of hype at the front end to take your money and then they hope you won't ask for a refund because, statistically, most people don't. I just bought one that promised the world, told me that he would reveal what the gurus don't want to tell me and, after buying the stupid ebook, it was garbage links, ffa's, adblasters, classified ads, blog and ping and a bunch of other useless crap. That was $47 down the drain.

I am weary of these interview, tele-seminars and all the guru worship going on. I think I've finally gotten smarter and realized that most of these guys are in it for the money and if you spend the time it takes on your own, read articles, blogs and other free resources, you don't have to waste your money on garbage.

Heh, the "Poor Jerk" is a funny guy, alright. I especially like that video clip of him and the Rich Jerk fighting :)

I do sometimes wonder how many of these books succeed just because of the effort required to get a refund. I mean, it's not just e-books -- I'm sure everyone's bought something online or offline that they weren't happy with but couldn't be bothered returning for a refund/credit.

The fact is, these people must be making money doing it, otherwise they wouldn't stay in business. I don't think they're all scam artists, though. Certainly, Joel Comm and William Charlwood seem to have been around long enough to have proved themselves as legitimate (disclaimer: I've not read either of their books, just talked to people to have) e-book writers. I just don't know if the claims made for the information they provide are overblown or not.

What somebody needs to do is build an honest review site for these e-books. Yes, there are "review" sites out there, but they tend to be glowing and as far as I can tell they only exist to sell the books through affiliate links. Maybe such a site already exists -- does anyone know of one? Things like how many pages is the book, summaries of the chapters, opinions, etc., the kind of stuff you'd find up on Amazon.

Unfortunately, there's significant outlay required to acquire the books in the first place to do the reviews. But maybe those of you here who've spent the money could pool your resources... ;)

Yes, it would be nice to have an honest review on products but I think nobody will take the time to do it unless there is something in it for them. The affiliate link is usually the motivator.

There are reputable people online and their reputation carries them. Many offer good products and services. Others are just trying to make a quick buck. It's up to the consumer to get smarter and not fall for the gimmicks.

The neverending number of scams will continue. It's an unfortunate price we pay for having such freedom on the Internet.
