Any advice?

Hey guys! About a year ago I decided that I was going to start a online Camping store, just because I like camping. So I decided to make a website selling camping gear. Named my business Camper's Ridge. Made my website signed up for some good reliable drop shippers. Tried some seo to get some traffic, backlinkin and so on.. Then I tried selling on ebay did not work.. Then I went to using adwords which I lost a bunch of money. Now I'm trying to sell on amazon and it isn't workin either, I'm getting around 5 visitors a day to my website. OO I also uploaded a data feed to google shopping and no help. Seems like its not ment to be, Any advice? ps my website link is my signature if u wanted to take a look..

I love camping too, in fact I spend almost every weekend in the summer camping, so I would consider myself an authority on camping. Here is what I see when I go to your store you have flashing lights more reminiscent of Christmas thank camping, you also have a picture of a backpacker, yet almost all of the products on your page are for car-camping. No backpacker is going to take a portable power generator or the stove you have pictured back packing. I don't see anything wrong with having a car camping site. But make the theme fit and explain that you are offering everything for a car camper. You could show a picture of a family camping by some car accessible spot surrounded by the types of products you sell.

If I don't understand your emphasis, you do want to sell to the backpacker who is camping, you should make that clear by having products the backpacker wants on the home page, freeze dried food, ultra light stoves and tents, etc.

I would have to say SEO, and ranking well for your keywords is likely the only cost effective way to make money. Sites like Ebay and Amazon take way to much of a cut and yes Adwords are largely a rip off. It will take time to rank but read these boards and you will get there. I would also suggest dropping the drop shipper if and when you can. The more you do yourself as a business the more money you make.

i think you should focus on fb fans and twitter fans. select your targeted visitors. then hire a VA to reach your website information to them. make sure that your fans are real not inactive. you can also deploy people to backlink with do follow sites. this can increase you site's traffic too.

it is too early to give up, as you've said, you are only getting 5 visitors a day which means it is almost certain that you have barely discovered the potential of any online shop. You should be able to get a few hundred visitors a day by investing some real effort in your website.

It sounds to me like you've been focusing most of your effort on stuff like CPC and affiliate marketing.

The ideal marketing strategy is to start with free methods and use them to build up a sustained level of traffic and then use paid methods like CPC, affiliate marketing to provide strategic boost to certain products or at certain times. 3. article submission - you can write articles on the concept of camping, why people do it, what to do on camping trips, what to avoid on camping trips etc.
4. classifieds ads
5. there must be many blogs devoted to camping and camping product reviews, try to find some and contact the blogger and see if they can write a review of your products or feature your shop in their posts
6. add your business to B2C networks, which are usually free, where you can create a page for your business so customers can find your details and contact you if they are interested in your products/services

All of the above methods are designed to bolster your website's online presence. By improving your search engine ranking, you should see more traffic coming through search engines.
