    Hello everybody!

I've a WW2 website and I would like to know your opinions about the use of adsense within it.

    The website is http://www.worldwar-two.net .

I've been using adsense since February. Last month I've reached the first 100USD of revenue. But on April 22th I've changed the position of the ads within the articles, putting them in the beggining of the text. Since then I've made 50USD which, for me, represents a huge jump. Is it possible to include more improvements?

Any help is very welcome. :)

    Thanks in advance.

Consider putting a horizontal leaderboard at the top of the site.

Not too intrusive and blended well. Let me know how it does!

That's a very nice site. Took me a sec to find the button to translate it into English though. I saw a site on here earlier which auto-detected your language, switching it between Spanish and English depending on where you were. That might be something worth looking into.

I love how you've implemented your AdSense. That works very well I bet.

Only thing I'd say is I noticed at the top of this page there was an AdWords referral ad. http://www.worldwar-two.net/pagina/ I don't think it looks great where it is. Can you blend it more somehow so it's not sitting taking up a whole big area of space as it is now?

After more than a week, I've done 45USD, since the replacement of the link units by a ad unit. That top ad unit made 32,63USD which is really good. And, the CTR is increasing. :) Thank you very much alfie1848.

That's a very good idea. I'll implement it very soon. However...what will happen with bots like google. If I auto-detect the language, will they index english or both? Do you remenber the website that I've seen before?

I also don't like it. I will remove it and include the adsense and adwords referrals on the right menu like the picasa and firefox.

    Thanks you a lot.

By the way, should I change the color of the ad links to red?

That thread has a link to the site with the auto detect language thing. Honestly not sure how it would work for Google and other spiders. Very good question. Might be worth talking to the starter of that thread and see what he says about it all.

You can include a square unit within your article. Place it on the top and align it to the left so that the article wraps around your adsense. This works great and these units give a very high CTR. Just my 2 clicks.

I already have ads within my article.
They only appear if there are any ads to show. I'm using the collapsing feature.

I also battled to find the toggle english link but I agree - it's a really cool site... I am sad that it's not really an english site though, all the foreign language in the forums scares me. You might be interested to check out how I placed some of my ads in the forums on my site. I know they might be a bit overdone (I haven't had my site reviewed by all you guys yet) but if you want to place ads between the posts in your forum (as seen on my site) I can help you out.

Otherwise I just wish I could understand it more :(

    cheers.

    Hi!

Since this last weekend my website has a subdomain for the portuguese version. Now, the main language of http://www.worldwar-two.net is english which makes sense. The portuguese subdomain is http://pt.worldwar-two.net.

Now, there's no cookie to save the language that you prefer. The mechanism to change the language (now, to change the address) is the same: you need to use the flags (flags from Portugal and UK) existent in the header or inside the articles.

If you have any suggestion to improve the usability and other things of the website I'm all ears. :D

    Best regards!

Not keen on the popups, but the site looks ok. Possibly, a bit busy, but still useable. I like the colour scheme.
I would say that the language control is too small, and would be hard to find unless you had told me.

What pop-ups? Oh. Probably it's because the Webstats4u.com stats. :(

I've increased the size of the language control to improve the usability. What do you think now?

    Thanks for you comments. :)
