Im flying up to Chicago on Thursday for the weekend for the simple reason that I havent seen the city yet. The only event that I have seen that is taking place is the airshow. Im looking forward to that but need some more things to do and see.

    Any suggestions?

Stay out of the minivan cabs! I've made several trips to Chicago over the years and the highest level of fear I have ever achieved was inside of those cabs.

No joke. I wouldn't ride in one of those again ever. It would have been better to walk from O'Hare to downtown. :)

Sears tower is on the agenda. Millenium park looks pretty cool. I'll have to check it out.

Whats so bad about the van cabs?

you should check out the hancock tower, you can get a great view and its free if you just say you want to go up to the signature lounge. go up and get yourself a drink instead of paying for the crap observation deck. definitely go to giordanos and get some chicago deep dish pizza. If you want a nice sit down restaurant with some amazing food try Reza's. My girlfriend took me there for my birthday and I had the best filet mignon and salmon I've ever had.

The navy pier is a good family attraction especially if you have small kids otherwise its a glorified shopping mall with a big ferris wheel. If the cubs were in town I'd suggest going to a game but they are away until monday. The field museum and shedd aquarium are good tourist things as well as millenium park. The chicago beach is great but make sure its at least 85 or the water feels pretty damn cold. oh and stay far away from south chicago

It's definitely a great place for the misses... http://www.georgiadining.info/Lawry/lawry.shtml

Just basic info there, but the place is called Lawry's. I went there around christmas and the staff was all dressed in early american period costumes singing christmas carols. It's one of those places that you can go dressed up and be fancy or you can also show up in jeans and be ok. The prime rib is great.

Ok all, had a kick ass time.

In fact, I fell in love with Chicago. There is a very good chance the wife and I may be buying a condo (plenty of them available) and will be moving that direction in early 2007.

Went to the Field museum, Science and industry, aquarium, planetarium, art institute, air and water show, and stayed at the Congress Plaza hotel.

Chicago is definatly what America is all about. I highly recommend a visit to anyone who hasnt been.

    Thanks for all the suggestions!

Well Im irish so it is actually the winter months that I am after. I hated the humidity there. We were looking at Minneapolis before Chicago for that very reason. We love cold and snow. :)
