Thank you for bumping this post with content that has absolutely nothing to do with the thread title.

First of all, I never scammed Vick or Greg and I never worked with Vick.

Vick.Kumar posted a thread asking for PHP tutorials to be written and offering writers anywhere from 25 cents to $2. I'm not the only writer that jumped into that thread to ask what was wrong with him? Then, he proceeded to go full out racist calling this place "indianpoint" and insult anyone who came to the thread.

Gregevskye is a member who was so infuriating to work with (I have another member who PMs me that can back this up) that I had to share my experience of working with them on their post looking for writers. They only paid me after the work was delivered.

Thank you though for that holy mother of run on paragraphs that never seem to end that state I scammed the two people above. I refused to write for one because of his piss poor pricing structure and I refused to write for another one after the original article was delivered because of what a headache it was to work with them.

That was excruciatingly painful to read.

Yeah, this place is a dead zone. DP has never been a place I hung around long looking for work, but I gotta say: Things sure suck around here lately. Notice the buying posts looking for "The best of the best", "Paying above industry average rates", etc., etc.? The first question all of these guys ask is "How much?" -- then disappear the minute you ask for reasonable rates.

How is it that someone who has spoken/read English their whole life is only worth the same, or $0.50 more at most per word than an ESL dude or dudette who writes in a garbled monotone; where a singular word magically becomes a plural for no reason at all, and contraction usage becomes non-existent?

I just got an article idea accepted at Cracked yesterday for a cool $100 payday. That's how I justify my ability to write and entertain.

It's hard to imagine that many of the cheapos (as Corey puts it) are getting much return from their investment from the dry, unreadable garbage-type $1 crud that seems to sell like hotcakes around here.

To make matters worse: They don't realize the potential that comes from investing in real content. Look at Cracked, Huff Post, Mashable... You don't see ESL drivel on those sites, do you?

Such poor misbegotten folks are still in the cheapo mindset that they can find that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow (I.e., the cheap superstar who doesn't know what they're worth.)

It's okay cheapskate: It doesn't make you a bad person; you just don't understand that it takes more than just an article devoid of little "blue" and "red" lines in Word to get people reading and clicking your links. And you justify said mentality by saying your $3 proposed payment for a 1000 word article is your hard earned money -- good as gold; or that anyone who would speak out against you must be terrible at customer service and not worth doing business with.

You wouldn't say that about a $200/hr plumber who graciously shows up at your house on Christmas day to fix a burst sewage pipe. But hey, writers are just cheap labor. Maybe your visitors will click your aff links because they like the pretty nav buttons on your site, or the embedded YouTube vids you spent hours on.

I don't know if you ripped off anyone Coreygeer, but the warning to avoid that PIA was appreciated by me and anyone else who writes and values their time.

It's a matter of people becoming incredibly angry when you refuse to write for slave wages. I must say though, in all my years I never had them follow me around everywhere. I'm used to them getting mad, it happens.

The last person I got a PM from who decided to work with that guy gave me this message: "These guys are straight up criminals" and pretty much confirmed my experience. The Vick guy is borderline racist and angry that people called him out asking for $2 PHP tutorial writers.

I don't really come around too much anymore. I might check in when I'm waiting on something to compile or download but I spend my time in other areas now days.

It's gotten a bit interesting around here to say the least when the majority of people pay less than Textbroker clients. It's not ideal but if you ever really need the work, it's probably a safer bet you can least be paid $1.50 per 100 words for your time. The $1 and .50c clients seem to want miracles and something that doesn't exist. A lot of people don't understand the process of what professional content goes through.

It goes through the creative process and then it goes through an editorial process, it's not some random guy sitting there churning it all for $5. People are always going to pay what they want to pay while expecting Cracked quality. I love Cracked articles, but they pay $100 per submission and the articles have to go through editorial.
