Anyone get good traffic from a video site besides youtube?

obviously youtube is the biggest but who do you consider the 2nd best for video traffic? Daily motion has worked pretty good for me.

Youtube is not the best. I am part of an independent production company (teamfresh) that specialises in animations. I posted a video on youtube to gain more exposure and it got 3,000 views in a year.

In the last month the same video on vimeo.com (see video here) has had almost 200,000 views! and has been embedded on over 100 websites. there is a link back to our blog (hd-fractals) in the video description and we have received over 10,000 visits from this link in the last month alone.:D

In my opinion youtube may be the biggest but is no way near the best video site. it is quickly turning into an online commercial tv and video resource.
ie - i missed that amazing episode of eastenders i will watch it on youtube - this is due to the fact that so many people are uploading copyrighted content

as video has become more popular on the web, video sites that will help you to succeed on the internet will be video sites that are more tailored to the individuals needs. niche video sites will be the answer.

ie - vimeo = user created content only - none commercial content only (there are a few exceptions read their faq for more details)
so vimeo is ideal for animators, artists and producers such as me to showcase my work without having to put up with ads placed all over my work. and people dont have to search through tons and tons of crap videos such as chav's fighting and cats being pushed off of walls etc to find my work.

I'm not saying youtube doesn't have its place on the internet, I use youtube videos on my blog - but i am saying (and my video is proof) that youtube is not needed to gain traffic from a video that has decided to go "viral" on the internet.

to re-iterate biggest does not always equal best. look at your user base

for me vimeo is the best - youtube is second

it is best to post your videos to as many video sites as is possible. I recommend using tubemogul.com it allows you to upload the video write the discription add tags etc just once and then it is all posted to multiple video sites for you meaning you dont have to upload over and over again! plus you get very detailed reports on all your videos stats links etc

Interesting thoughts and comments! I've used YouTube for quite some time, but based on the comments I'll certainly be branching out. One thing to keep in mind is Google likely can't (I don't think?) penalize you for duplicate video content. At least that will be one tough algo. to compare videos! Until then, multiple sites probably won't hurt ya.

There are programs available such as Video Bot that will submit your video to many tube sites. Spread them around and see which site works best for your niche.

As for views, its Youtube and then Break. But, since Break does not allow live links in the video description, I get no traffic from them. The people would have to copy the url from the video description and paste it into the address bar - this would count as direct traffic.

As for traffic, its youtube, and then either dailymotion and metacafe. One of them allows live links in the video description. If the video hosting site allows live links in the video description, your going to get more traffic from them, as compared to a site that does not allow live links.

Last week I signed up at http://www.frootoo.com/ and moved a bunch of my youtube videos over to them, and now I'am getting traffic from that site as well.

I also post and yahoo video, and get almost no traffic from that site.

I use Vimeo, but some of my videos have ads in them for promoters, so I try to stay away from vimeo. As a blogger, I have to disclose when someone sponsors an video - that is the guidelines of the Federal trade commission. so if I disclose my relationship with vendors, I might violate vimeos TOS. If I do not disclose, then I'am in violation of the FTC guidelines.
