Yes ... careful with the links.

I used to work for the Cyber Recruiting part of GoArmy.

When America's Army first came out, the advertising agency didn't think to buy up similar domains for mistypes and AmericaArmy[dot]com used to be a porn site ... that proved embarassing ...

reminds me of a political comic I saw. 2 recruiters sitting by one new signup. They were celebrating as they met the quota, being an army of "ONE".

I think we should have given the $200million advertising budget the Army has to schools and let the Army have bake sales and sell fruit door-to-door to rase money ;)

I hear it is a rather nice play. I have to disagree, not free, our taxes paid for it. You could always join the Army when you turn 18 to thank them :p

Tell you a little secret .... the Army didn't originally come up with this game. The concept was developed at the US Naval War College and through corporate and collegiate collaboration it fell into the Army's lap. The initial funding for it was not the Army, though they've since "paid" for it and have certainly gotten the majority of the benefit.

I am happy to announce we are both right. I still think that money would be better represented in the educational field. GO ARMY Bakesale!

Believe it or not, the technology that created the game, is actually used for simulation training for soldiers, so to some extent, it's paid for itself in that aspect, plus it gives them (Army) big, free advertising.

On the issue you raised though ...

Education in general needs to be given more priority, funding, and attention and scrap all of the BS rhetoric.

I can't fathom how the public stomachs allowing professional sports to gets waivers on RICO and other federal laws, asks taxpayers to fund hundreds of millions for stadiums, pay big bucks for tickets, while pros, coachs and all rake in billions ... all the while, public education, quality teachers, facilities and the system in general is allowed to degradate.
