Anyone visited Cancun recently?

I am taking a well deserved vacation in February. Thinking of visiting Cancun or some other nearby place like Cozumel or Isla del Padre...

Anyone visited there recently? Any tips you can give me? Looking for an all-inclusive resort where I can rest, not interested in discoteques or party nights

 

I'll be going to Cozumel for a wedding in April...you should go then.

My wife and I went to Ixtapa (Zihuatanejo) a few years ago and it was really nice...and very quiet. I can give you specific info if you're interested.

Last year I worked like a donkey, so this year I am going to enjoy it as much as I can and going to take a one-week trip every month. I was planning to go to Cancun on Feb, Canada on March, and south america on April, some place like Peru or Chile

 

Don't come here in March, man. Save Canada for the summer. It's freakin' cold here!

 

I think Cancun and Cozumel are going to be nutts in February because of Spring Break and stuff.

Go in July, that's when we might be going (Machu Picchu).

Have you ever been there before?

We still haven't decided where we're going but that is definitely on the short list of possibilities.

 

Spring break? Darn, I sure don;t want to be there then...

Last time I traveled was like 10 years ago, so that's why I want to do it this year, take advantage of the nice extra $ my sites are giving... but I just have no idea of where to go. Don;t want to go to Europe or similar expensive places, so that's why south america came to my mind

But you can buy a train ticket that's valid across Europe and do Youth Hostels so you can go on the cheap. Or visit couchhopping.com for free accommodation. Dct, Design Agent, SEbasic and I will show you around London if you do change your mind...

Europe isn't that expensive really. I've been there three times over the last five years or so. And like T0PS said, by train is the way to travel. You can buy a three week Eurail pass for like $600.

And in most of the major cities (excluding London) you can still get a fairly decent room for 100-150 Euros or so.

Personally, fryman, I recommend going to the Greek Islands.

 

Yeah, but for example just with what the plane ticket costs to go to London I would pay a good hotel for a week at Cancun

And I would rather do 10 small and not so costly trips than one big one to Europe

Last time I was in Cancun --2 yrs ago...I got an awesome deal on rooms @ the Hyatt. The per nite rate was high, but if you paid for 3 nights or more it was pretty good--120 or so.

Since you just want to kick back---Playa del Carmen may be better. Do a lot of homework---just over 50% of the rooms are available. A lot of the infrastructure is still destroyed or damaged.

Both places are pretty sweet. Have fun .

 

I have a friend w/ a condo in Playa del Carmen (which is right next to Cozumel). Maybe he'll let the fryman stay there. Give me your dates and I can see if it's available.
