Anyone willing to look at my site?

I found this site while searching for ways to improve Adsense performance on my sites, and I must say I'm very impressed with the the willingness of many members to share knowledge and experience. I thank you for that. I've listed the URL below.

Until recently I wasn't seeing the potential of Adsense for income. I've been slowing building the content on my site with the intention of either making it a membership site or selling my own ebooks. Now I can see there is a place for Adsense too. I threw up a bunch of ads and have gradually started seeing more hits and some clicks, but it's been understandably slow going.

The increase follows the increased traffic as I'm starting to show up in SE rankings. Clearly I need to grow my traffic with more content pages. I've got a lot of them in the works for all kinds of sports, but I might as well maximize my ad placements now.

One more thing. Based on a large thread here about putting images above ads, I made a change to my Oprah page just last night, so very little history to check it against. I know the placement on my other pages needs work. I am going to gradually update them and make some changes to the ads on the right side the page too.

Enough of my rambling. Sorry to go on so long for my first post.

    URL is sportsticketsecrets.com/oprah_secrets.html

Edit - sorry about the URL. I went to edit this post to remove my AdSense stats at the suggestion of a kind soul, but it wouldn't take my edits due to a live link. According to the FAQ (what, you expect me to read those things? :) I am not yet allowed to have live links even though it took it when I originally made the post. Go figure.

    Hey welcome to DP!

How much traffic do you get per day?

You may want to consider moving the 728 banner in the middle content upwards between the title "How to Get...." and the main banner ad at the top - you might want to place a horz line between the top ad and the adsense if the become to close.

I dont know if this is an option for you or if it would work on your site but all my sites perform better with the adsense on the left hand nav bar rather than the right.

You're a pro. :) Although I'd rather poke my eyes out than watch Oprah, your page is informative and I had no idea it was a sales page until I got to the end.

Regarding the Adsense placement, it looks good and the use of pictures is helpful. Only testing is going to answer the question of what placement works the best.

    Nice job.

Thanks, but I can't take too much credit. I originally wrote the content as just that... content. Then I wrote the associated ebook and added the sales link at the bottom of the page. We'll see how well is does.

I'm getting only about 20-30 uniques a day, so I def need to work on that, I know.

I might try putting the adsense on the right under the nav bar and get rid of the misc adds I have there now.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I would move on from the adsense part and throw all your efforts in building traffic. I am sure you will see a big difference when you start getting 300+ visitors a day.

Getting tied up in optimizing adsense can delay you on the important things, optimize later when you can compare better stats.

That's what I've been telling myself lately, but it's good to hear it from someone else! I need to force myself to do the unpleasant stuff (building content) right now so that I can do more of the fun stuff (adsense optimization) later.

    Thanks for keeping me honest!

I shifted the ads around a little and have noticed a small increase in clicks. I'm going to adopt this same layout on the other pages and then get crankin on content. Anyone want to help? :D

The ads you have in the middle, try blending the colour of the url to be the same as text (from blue - black).

Also I see your site bar is 160 wide - why not use the 160x600 ads.

When you make a change with the ads you should give it a week or two and measure the difference in the stats.

I honestly wouldnt make too many changes to your site as it is good enough as it is and I am sure once you get the traffic you'll do a lot better.

Thanks for those suggestions. I made them a couple of days ago and had my best adsense day so far! Unfortunately I can't say it's all due to the changes as some of the clicks were on other pages that I didn't change, but I think the Oprah page looks better.

Oh yeah, by best day so far is now $1.75. Whoohoo. I'm in the money! All the others are more like .35-.85 though. I'm still building to my first $100.
