Anyway to avoid dry ink?

The ink in my printer keep drying or clogging up. I don't use the printer often, so that seems to be a problem. But aren't these things designed to keep the ink fresh? Even after several cleaning cycles I still get all kind of streaks in my pages.

Is there any way to avoid this? And is there any way to make a clogged cartidge work again? They are almost full of ink but printing is almost impossible

And of course the stupid cartridges cost more than what the printer does.

You have to use it every once in a while. Just print a couple of pages off one a week or so. I used to do that with a printer I had and it made the cartridges last a lot longer.

Once you pull the sticker off the cartridge they will dry even if they're just sitting in the printer.

Make sure and clean your heads and everything and then just try printing a page or 2 on a regular schedule.

Spray a little bit of Windex in each rubber catch (where the foam pads are and manually push the heads back into their resting place ;)

I read the link above but I would never put alcohol anywhere near the print heads...It will unclog them but it will also dry out the rubber seals within a week or two and cause all kinds of problems.

Ah they compatible catridges or orginal brand as well? I used to find compatible catridges by some makers would dry up in no time - other compatible makers stayed fluid even after long breaks.
