    For the unit by the upload form, contast can be a good thing, but in thise case I think you should blend it in the with content. The main unit at the top could fit a little better with the layout (the width) to blend perfectly, I think. Besides that, the placement looks good to me.

    The ads do stand out, but I think it would be better if you blended the ads with the rest of your site colors

    I can't read the ads without focusing hard, which I doubt I would bother with when using an upload site. Choose some colors that are easier to read.
