Are the DP mods too heavy handed?

Firstly I fully realize that I'm placing my neck on the chopping block with this thread.But I am the kind of person that cannot contain myself.Perhaps on this I lack discipline.But...I can't help but notice the very large number of banned members on here.Also it appears that infractions are handed out like candy.
Let's be fair....being a mod cannot be easy.You're damned if you do,damned if you don't.Look at the size of this site,it's huge! They have a big job to do and probably have to make their decisions on the fly.I do respect the mods and if I don't like it,I'm free to leave as we all are.
My point is that I would prefer the mods to go a little bit easier on us.We are human after all and will make mistakes.Why not just PM us with a simple warning? Or would that be too time consuming?
Anyway does anyone have any thoughts on this?

This place is a SPAM magnnet, to stop it just becoming a total cesspit. Some heavy handed tactics are sometimes needed to managed a forum of such magnitude. This place has everything from criminals to signature trolls roaming around.

 

I don"t think mods here are very strict..Every infraction is like a warning, No one likes to play against their rules..

Just think that they are spreading love via infractions. May be they like you too much.

Well if the truth be known it has caused me to ponder and reflect on a few things.My temper and attitude for example.If I look at my 2 infractions in this light,then there is a positive that may come of it all.

 

They hate me then
They loved me when I joined this forums, got my first two infractions in a day for two posts like "Hey I can do this job, contact me if project is still open" and "Consider it done, contact me for a price quote".

After getting the infractions I spent a day reading and understanding the rules.. Since then, I'd been applying the common sense when posting..
No love from them anymore now.. Previous love has expired and I'm clean as Belgium glass.


It takes 10 infractions to get banned, so I'd say anyone has to be an extreme idiot to get banned by accumulating infractions..
Your first few infractions are enough to set you straight.

 

I dont think the mods are too harsh at all. They're doing their job. Imagine having to sift through so many posts on a daily basis and consistently have to make judgement calls on who is spamming or going against the rules.

 

That's why people, be nice and you won't get infraction. If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it.

Being nice to people is a must but at times I do lose my temper,and frankly can be nasty when that happens.As to my avatar that photo was taken last weekend,glad you like it.

Mods are humans too, they do make mistakes

 

As you say they are human.Honestly I do believe that they are fair.One of the mods is a very cool person,in fact she is on my friendship list.

 

I think that the moderators here are doing a great job, It's hard work and there is a lot of people who break the rules because they do not read the rules before joining or making a post or they just don't care. I think that is why the digitalpoint moderators are a little strict, They need to be strict otherwise this forum would be full of spam, scam and it wouldn't be as good as it is right now with all the honest people and everything. (No, I am not saying that everyone here is honest)

Not really, I'm only nice to people I care about.

 

For someone who visits this forum occasionally, I never had any problems. I DO see a lot of banned people, but I also see even more those who are not. Since this is one of the most visited sites in the world, it's only logical to assume there are a lot of spammers, trolls and those type of lot - the only solution is quick response in terms of bans and infractions.
