Are the DP mods too heavy handed?

Another point that I had not considered.This is exactly why I posted this thread.Yes....I did notice the high number of banned members but did not even consider how many are not banned.Really numerically speaking it's probably only 2 or 3% banned members....good point.

I normally do look at the whole picture but...getting 2 infractions sort of threw me off my equilibrium.

You're right about opinions and the mods have them too.You can say anything you want about Muslims and they will let it pass.But God help you if you say something about either gays or Jews.Hmmmm,I could say more on this but dare not.Mods are like anyone else,they have their prejudices and biases too.Look at some of the posts that some of the mods make,and you can form your own opinions on that.

I believe that the mods "try" to do the right thing.At the end of the day all we can ever ask of anyone is that they "try" to do the right thing,right?

I see people banned and don't see a serious reason.

A few weeks ago I got infraction stating "You are spamming your signature." Like what I post has little to no value. Well I just cut my postings. . ... I don't feel like without DP my life won't have meaning. And BTW, IMO years ago the crowd here was posting higher quality posts than now.

I'm sure that you can appreciate that I must be careful here as the mods will read this thread along with everyone else.But...there is no question in my mind that there are political and indeed geographical biases on here.I have read posts from the highest level that frankly surprised me.
At the end of the day,mods and administration are human beings.DP is not a democracy,it is run by 17 mods and 2 administrators."The gang of 19" are decent enough people,big job to do.Their word is law around these parts.I am slowly beginning to understand how things TRULY work here.Either I learn to get with the program or get going to another site.I have chosen the former.So...I must bite down and swallow some humble pie.I don't much care for the taste however.
I cannot speak to you on how things were as I've only been here 3 months.I'll just have to take your word on that.

 

You can check the number of new threads and posts in the "politics and religion" forum before and now. I think the new threads are much less than before, (could be two or three times less...).
Basically, if one wants to discuss something he expects some level of competence and honesty from the other party. ..... maybe only 10% of the posts on dp (politics and religion) deserve good rating, the rest are bellow average.

Probably because you're not in the MOD list to know why some people get banned for whatever reason.

 

Who cares,I mean their are several thousand webmaster forums.If you rack up enough infractions and get banned just take your business else ware.

 

Has anyone here ever gotten a "frank and beans" infraction? I hear they are becoming quite common these days.

Other than that... have doubts this humble forum can long retain the interest of a globetrotting multi-lingual dual-citizenship-bearing heiress/supermodel from France & Canada, so to avoid the pain of parting I'll try not to get too attached.

On the contrary , they are a little light handed this days . There is so much spam in certain sections that it would take ages to moderate . As for P&R Shawn said it many times that the sole purpose of that section is to keep certain people in check , I think it serves as a constant reminder that life isn't all rose , peaches and AdSense cheques .

 

They probably aren't heavy handed enough.

So many junk threads and junk posts, people bumping 4 or 5 year old threads with useless replies just to spam their signature. So hard to find the useful information among all the crap.
