Are we making Progress... or is it all downhill from here?

What do you reckon...

Technology has given us lots of things, amazing stuff and heaps of cheap gadgets that break as per their designed-failure-time (usually just after warranty is up). I remember being able to buy a tool and the thing would last and remain tough for years. Now you can go through a new drill in a couple of days!

I'm not at all convinced that modern day motor-car will still be servicable in 20 years (even if you know how to fiddle with the gazillians of onboard computer chips).

Concorde has gone so now we fly slower.

We have to work longer because kids toys are so much more expensive.

Everywhere you go some camera or other is checking you out.

Your insurance company might now or soon be charging according to your genetics.

Most of us are so dependant on electricity that we can't hardly function without plugging something in somewhere.

And on top of all that, we're living longer because of the crap they put into the water, our food, medicines and fancy electronic tickers!

Is this all good? Is this over-crowded, soft, politically correct, environmentally unfreindly world really heading towards paradise? Or will we simply end-up choosing the eye-colour and intellectual type of our kids depending on the fashion of the day.

Progress.... Or maybe the downhill slope of humanity into the sci-fi zone?

 

I think humanity is headed down a dark path if you ask me personally. Our technology is doing great, but morality and ethics have completely gone down the toilet.

I feel like as a society we are losing more freedoms everyday, and are possibly about to head into another World War.

The cost of living is going up, jobs are being sent overseas, and a bunch of other things are happening that give me a grim outlook on the world as whole.

For me personally though, I think things are going great.

 

What I am more concerned of is on how we sustain environmental conservation amidst this industrial and technological development.

If we keep disregarding the welfare of our nature then I guess we aint going to the right path.
