    Hey, nice thread.

    I enjoy life even after the trauma of St John's school for boys and the road to addiction that I found afterwards. This led to years of
    incarceration and finally to a cell facing a life sentence almost 32 years ago. But I surrendered that night, just gave up fighting, and asked if there was something out there, I needed help.

    Then all kinds of things began to happen, and have continued to happen all these years. I didn't believe in much then but hoped something
    would help, and it did and continues to today.

    I met an incredible Native Canadian who was spiritual and showed me a path of willingness to discover what "might" be out there. I haven't looked back since. I've been clean and sober 17 years now and have a life that offers increased promise all the time.

    It's cool!

    So hang in there if times are rough, ask for help and you'll get it. The cool thing is, you don't have to be a believer, just willing to believe in the possibility that something or someone beyond ourselves wants to help, and you're on your way!

    I've shared this many times over the years and met many, many people who have had a similar journey (or worse) and simply asked for help, and they got it.

    This is a really great post. It made me really think about how I am living my life. I think we can all give more and expect less. And the more hatred you wipe from your life the less worries you will be overcome by.

    These are excellent words, really. I would actually give a little advise of my own, for those who think they live in misery and that their life sucks and all: try to put yourself in your wife's/husband's/mother's/close person's pants, sublime with them (sort of), take a look at yourself from their POV and list all the good things about you that you can state upon the 1st sight - and you'll see that there's a lot of good things that go around you. I'm doing it once in a while, and all my sadness suddenly won't bother me.
    It is only through comparison we gain experience and real understanding
