(((Please, don't drag this thread into intense political debate.
It's ment to be about preparing for tough times, and really bad days ahead for big business)))

    Are you prepared for emergencies?

I don't want to come off like a doomsday freak, for example:
The Global Debt Bubble Will Explode Soon
World War 3 Has Already Started
USA Real Estate Market Is Collapsing

No, I'm too laid back and happy to be screaming like that. :D
Fact is (unless you are asleep, or don't care):
-The Global Debt Bubble Might Explode Very Soon
-World War 3 Has Possibly Already Started
    and
-The USA Real Estate Market Is Really Collapsing

If USA real estate prices keep fallng fast again next year, where will the money come from to pay off all the EZ money home equity loans created the last 5-15 years? and all the other "loose and easy" real estate backed loans, which were so popular this decade??
    @@@@@@@@@@@

Whether it be economic collapse, war, or mother nature, are you prepared for emergencies?
Also, here a a few tips you may not have thought of:

-Extra ammo to fight the starving mobs  (NO, wait, I'm not prepared to shoot to kill, are you?)

    The Real Helpful Ideas:

-Buy a large amount of whole grain brown rice. If you are health oriented, you already know natural rice is much better than the white kind and it lasts a long time.

-If you drink booze, buy 10-20 big bottles of Rum. You will be wanting it when times get bad. The prices sure will not be falling, so consider it a good investment.

-If you are a sober person, buy 50-100 big bottles of Rum :D. If you're rich, invest in gold (for example) because the outlook for paper money is pretty poor. If you are not rich, investing in gold or silver often involves many commissions and storage charges.

Rum (or whiskey, yuck!) will be as good or better than cash, in many possible crisis situations. You can't ever really lose much money 'investing' in a stash of booze. FYI: I'm very slow to follow my own advice. You will not find a large stash of any value in my home.

-Talk with a Grandparent or any senior citizen about the American Great Depression. "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it" -Famous old quote from _______?

-Also, do some of the common sense things a more normal person would suggest, and your chances of survival will be higher.

Best wishes and a happy, grateful holidays,
    MGH

I'm still trying to find the link to your online rum store. If the world collapses, what shall I do?

    Cheers! :D

Nothing beats back a Great Depression the way Rum can! :p

On a more sober note: You really can't lose any money with this idea.

Eradicate the term "can't lose" from your business vocabulary: even rum could drop in price.

How many bottles would you like to bet on that?
You're technically correct, but my advice is 100% backed by the FDIC, and the full faith and credit of the US government. ;)

I've never once seen average booze prices fall for very long.
The whole point is to be prepared, and be happier because of the effort. :)

Well, then go ahead and do it. Report back with your findings once the crisis sets in.

I've been aware of the huge federal debt bubble for over 15 years.
IMHO, the moment I finally "give up" and decide the booming Global economy will outpace our past spending (in other words, a good outlook), is the same month everything falls apart.

    So here we go:

The global economy was due for a disaster many years ago.
The massive crashes will happen before April 15, 2007, or they will not appear in our lifetime.
The happy scenario includes a booming Internet economy, which bails out the nice people who got us deeply into debt.
BTW, anybody hungry for some whole grain brown rice? :D

Don't be expect a debt collapse to happen so quickly. Unlike stocks, RE suffers from illiquidity... the downside takes much longer to find than it does with other markets. Though this isn't really a housing bubble -- it is a cheap credit bubble as you said -- the main power behind it is housing. Check the charts of the last housing collapses (81?) and you'll see it takes longer than a few months to play out; more like a few years.

I am not prepared in the least for that great depression which I also fear is imminent. What's more, racing against time, for me, seems to be counter-productive. :/
