Can someone please tell me why I am having such a hard time getting adsense code to appear within an article?

You want the code to appear or the ad? May be a TOS issue if you want to show the code....

Hey bschneider5, which script are you using? Are you using a template? I had a similiar problem, be sure there are no {strip} tags in the template or adsense will no work.

    Hope this helps

Same script i was using, look in the templates folder i think it was in the article.tpl file there are quite a few look for {strip} and {/strip} and remove all instances of them and i bet adsense will start working for you.
