B.tech project ideas for Indian students

Electronics are interesting when it gets to telecommunications and ballistics.
If you're a psycho, you can build a regex processing engine on a chip though

so u tokin abt a multiprocessor chip ?
a regular 8085 would suffice ?

also it should have some I/O interface, and regarding the real tasks, it should be able to:
- split a long strings and process them separately, limits: up to 128K -> 32K
- ignore all non-matching characters if a condition like 'Search only for special symbols in '{{{{{{{{{ THIS IS INFO }}} @!!FSFS@$@ ' is defined - this would save the performance out when dealing with unicode
- be able to return the exact position of found substring in-line, to splice it easily
- sub-expressions and combinations of it, or 'I expect to see <BEGIN> there at position 3443 after </PREVBEGIN>, or I don't process it further' Hsd you ever thinked of using same tree structure to process two queries?

So it comes either to a 808x showcase, SPARC-optimized program (there were few open environments with a good networking bus) or NVIDIA GPU hack.

btw, last one would be welcome in Perl community. And if you would start upon hacking GPU's, you can think of coding some framework too.
