Basic question to choose a CMS

I am trying to choose a simple yet secure, feature rich, user friendly CMS for which I need your expert inputs.

I am not making a big difference between blogging (read wordpress, with which I am pretty much at home) and pure CMSs for the purpose of choosing the right one.

Earlier, I had tried Joomla but found it rather heavy and taking a longish learning curve. It would also help better if you give a thought to the availability of free themes or skins

So, what would you suggest and why?
    Thanks in advance.

That's fine. But I would like a recommendation based on comparison. The one main reason for me to consider CMS is to plan and migrate from blogging if it suits on all counts

When you say migrate from bloggin to CMS, if you are already using Wordpress you are already using a CMS. Wordpress has developed into a fully functional CMS that can do almost anything you want.

I am not a joomla or drupal user so I can't comment on specifics, however I have tried them out and found them far harder to figure out than Wordpress.

Some will say that Joomal and Drupal are more developer friendly and enable more functionality, but for most of us, Wordpress can cover what we need plus more!

IMHO, if you are already familiar with wordpress (which is a more than capable CMS), why change?

How do I want to measure the impact of my content?

Linked closely with Testing, it’s important to measure the impact of your content on site performance. To achieve this you need to understand how you can tag each content component to ensure the data is being collected in the right reports in your web analytics.

Many of the enterprise level CMS providers have plug-ins for tools like Google Analytics and the leading analytics suites like Omniture SiteCatalyst but ask the question, don’t assume it will work.

Start by defining what you want to measure, then work back to how it can be measured. If you’re not sure how it should work, speak to an expert.

Go what's best with you. Rather you work with something your comfortable with rather than something that's gonna leave you frustrated. If your blogging though, Wordpress just might be the choice for you.

I would say Joomla for small-business sites, and WP for blogging
