    Hi

I am working on Adsense placements on my vBulletin forums for a long time now and I think the current ones work great.

Because many are looking for good placement positions for their forums I released a lot of hacks to implement adsense into vBulletin forums.

These Placements + Mods are available:

    Adsense Link Unit in Navbar

Very nice place to set a link unit.
I contacted google regarding TOS and they said it is fine with them.
    However, no guaranties!

Adsense as second post. 2 Sizes - Big for guests, small for members

This modification displays adsense as second post in every thread.
Guest see a post like adsense with a product Referral (firefox in this code) and a leaderboard as post content. Registered Members see a standard banner so they don't get annoyed by the big advertising. I also included an information for guests, that they see a different not so disturbing ad if they register. This serves to purposes, one is to get more members to register of course the second purpose is to blend the advertising better into the post layout.

    Hack:
    postbit Version: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=136743
    postbit_legacy Version: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=139093

Adsense above quickreply - 2 layout versions

This hack places a google adsense leaderboard above the quick reply box in every thread.
I have two layout versions for this hack.
The first one is a in a box with a dotted border catching the attention and the second one is a simple box perfectly blending into the site.

Adsense linkunit below the last thread

This places an adsense linkunit under the last thread on forumdisplay.

If you have vBulletins Blog installed, here are placements for the blog:

    Adsense in Blog Navigation

This hack adds a small square 200x200px Adsense Banner into the Blog navigation on the left below blog options and above blog search

This hack adds a standard 468x60px Adsense Banner below the Recent Comments List on the Blog start page.

Also maybe this is another interesting modification that could increase your registrations on newer forums.

Remove statistic information to increase registrations

    Introduction:

I came up with this idea when I thought about "what discourages me from registering with a forum I don't know when the topic interests me?"

Ask yourself what you do when you are searching for a topic and find a forum.
Where do you look first? What is it that turns you away?

Right! You/I first check to see how many threads and posts are in this forum and then I check the stats for how many registered members there are.
If these numbers are to low for me, then I most likely don't even start to read in the forum.
Does this sound familiar to you? If it does this hack is for you!

    What this hack does:

It removes the columns "threads" and "posts" (count) for guests but leaves them for members on FORUMHOME and FORUMDISPLAY.
Optional it removes the whole "what is going on" box.
This way you get rid of unimportant information for guests and let them focus on your content.
These information are only helpful anyway if you are the top dog in your niche and want to show of what you got. If you have a smaller forum these information will most likely discourage guests more then it would encourage them.

I hope this helps a little.

    Feedback is very welcome

I have never seen phpBB templates but I highly doubt it with my code.

But you can use the ideas and modify the code to get it to work on phpBB ;)

Stuffing your forums with ads isn't always pleasing to the visitor's eyes. What I've done (and generate quite a lot for my low traffic):

Place leaderboards underneath the Navbar, and off you go!

I also believe that the AdSense post in the postbit is against Google Adsense TOS.

I don't much care for your placement, check out our vB forum and see how we've set ours up.
you might want to check out the ad locations in vb 3.7

    It works for me.
If the content is good a few ads don't drive away interested users.

I contact google when ever I change ad placements that I think might conflict with their tos.
So far my Forums comply with googles tos
