Best CMS for static SE friendly URLs

I need to redesign my website using any CMS.

Can you suggest me any one that output static html urls?

If you look around at any CMS, you will see SEO friendly links. I personally like the ones that normally are generated by Wordpress. /2005/11/19/post-name-goes-here -- it gives contextual meaning the post and shows when it was posted.

 

Im a newbie to this CMS. I cant get you.

My new site will have 65% weightage to articles. I need HTML output. I heard somewhere else that Drupal and Mamboo are the best.

I have little bit knowledge in PHP and MySQL. Which one will be useful for me? Your suggestions would be highly appreciated.

if you want simpler one then you can checkout www.joomla.org, they must be having hack to add title and meta tags along with SE friendly URLs

Almost any (if not all) php CMS scripts can be hacked to produce SEO friendly URLS. Out of the box Wordpress is a great solution for a beginner, especially since the support community is so large.

 

I'll second Modxcms. It's a break off of etomite that really has some great features. You can specify your pages to end in any extension (.html, none at all, or create your own).

 

I suggest you try out a few, and see which one you like best.

I'm currently using Joomla (aka Mambo) for most CMS-based sites, but am experimenting with a couple of sites in Drupal. Drupal seems more "blogish" to me.

If you really want to have some fun, figure out Ruby on Rails I always swore I'd never learn to code, but RoR is making a believer out'a me.

Ah, quite the opposite. Wordpress can be used for any kind of site. Normally, yes, they are used for blogs, but it has an endless amount of potential for its use. I use it to offer promos to companies, I use it as a magazine, I use it for a business site, I use it for a blog. There are an insane amount of plugins for it which expands it's possibilies. The Wordpress community, which I am an active member in, holds contests yearly to help produce even more plugins and themes so that everyone can try to get what they need out of it. There is a lot of support for the product as well which I think, helps give it a good reputation. It's very, and when I say very it's an under statement, flexible with what it can do. Again, I highly recommend it to all users. It's a very good product and I support it 100%.

Each CMS has it's own speciality. Wordpress does specialize as a blog, but has endless amounts of potential. Drupal is equally a good solution. I will say that I don't use Wordpress for everything because some things have a better solution to them. I use it for anything I see as a fit. I'll use drupal or other software like it for a specific purpose that I need. Also it has a great deal of what you are comfortable using.

 

I use Joomla for a few sites, and it is okay. But it has a few bugs that is not good SEO-wise. For example - if you forget to specify the meta-description, it leaves it empty. Empty meta-description is not good. It has been reported to the dev-team though, and they are supposed to fix it.

Drupal is also really good, but it has a quite steep learning curve. Espesially when it comes to creating or changing the templates.

The simplest solution I have seen to date is http://cmsmadesimple.org
It is absolutely fantastic when it comes to simplisity and administration. They have also done everything right when it comes to simple url's. I would suggest having a look at it.

 

but why you want static?

 

as i understand it, you want static for better seo.

i put wordpress up on the server last nite for the first time, then installed a newly-written blog template for it that had adsense hard-coded into the template... i'm a php noob, so i found that the sophistication and simplicity of the entire process was pretty impressive.

right now i have an existing site that needs some cms for embedded, hard-coded graphics links, so i'm looking at all the choices out here.

 

Does CMSMadeSimple have a large supporting community?

I personally have tried Wordpress, Drupal, 4Images (image CMS) and handcoded , but heard alot of good review on Joomla, so I may try it on my next website...

 

yeah use a few CMS before you decide. joomla has a few paid options and many free ones. of those only the free 404Sef one worked for me.

check out joomla... very good one.. I have it on one of the site... been 4 years.. happy with it

 

Joomla has a built in function that does well at outputting non-dymanic URL's. You can also get 3rd party add ins that will incorperate keywords into the URL.

I have found Joomla to be very good at doing well at SEO with a few adjestments. I have about 16 top ten google positions in the two sites I do SEO for.
