    There's nothing wrong with Wordpress... particularly for beginners... You'll be able to do most things with it.

    If you need more power, Drupal or Joomla tend to be popular... but will involve a steeper learning curve than Wordpress.

    Go to http://php.opensourcecms.com/ - and look around - this site will allow you to see the main site, and the admin panel, for dozens of popular CMS's... and lot's of them that no-one has ever heard of...

    I'm going to say booo to joomla (i've used it, its great at first) and then recommend Drupal. Its very flexible and only slightly more difficult to setup than wordpress (not by much though).
