Best CMS Solution for My Site

Alright, my Site GamerGlitch is an archive of game exploits seperated by categories such as System Console, Game, Etc. I was wondering what is a good content management system that would allow me to Put pages under these categories with a simple (Search Engine Firendly) file name like they are right now (descriptivetitle.html instead of article####.html). Also I want to allow, or disallow comments, ratings, etc, per page I create, and allow sortability alphabetically, or by most recent. I will also be using the same kind of content management system on my other sites (in my Sig). I've been building websites a while, but I've never before looked into content management systems, so sorry for my current ignorance on the subject.

 

I would also like a system that is easy to create templates for, and have RSS support.

 

I think Joomla would be the best option for you. Wordpress is easier to figure out than Joomla but is not as powerful/customizable IMO.

Check Drupal out. I build sites with it since a couple of years and I never regretted.

It's very good for SEO. Clean URLs for sure, comments (allow per page), free tagging, rating modules, good templating, RSS, content can be made sortabable alphabetically, all you asked for.
And Drupal has a very active and friendly community at http://drupal.org. Give it a try!

Joomla words are spreading. Anyway, i will stay with blogspot and will try to use wordpress first.

I second Drupal, all the features you need are intuitively built into Drupal. CCK module will allow you to do pretty much what you want, plus Pathauto and clean urls will let you make your urls exactly what you want them to be. You can disallow and allow comments per article/page/category, etc. Plus there are some great modules for ratings and reviews.

 

We use custom made solutions for some sites but we have recently tried Drupal, which seems to work well.

 

I just wanted to toss out my two cents. I personally would use php-fusion for your site. I've got a review of it here: http://cmscritic.com/6-php-fusion-core-edition-7-review/. The main reason I suggest php fusion is that it's very very good for game related sites. There is also this cms that is used for game sites: www.igamingcms.com

Sometimes it's good to consider other options that the typical joomla/drupal choices. Although they are excellent.

Thanks to all the suggestions, sorry it took so long for me to get back to this thread I live in Ohio and the powers been out for the last three days, just got it back. Anyways, it looks like its either Joomla or Drupal, which one of these woud be easiest to build a layout around.

 

drupal if you developer
joomla if you want to have good control
wordpress for easy modifications but useless when it comes to making a good big site

 

What do you exactly mean by being a developer, as in using Drupal? Is it harder to work with the code or something compared to Joomla?
