So as 2006 is winding down, anyone have an opinion about the best investment for 2007? My portfolio manager said it could be crude oil based on how low it gets over the winter...but I figured I would ask around and see what everyone else thought.

Unfortunately there are rules and regulations about promoting particular stocks, however it is possible to say what you have in your portfolio....

When the rest of the market is looking bleak, oil is always favourable.

    Diversify your portfolio

There are many reasons to diversify your portfolio, several of which all come down to the same basic point. If you own stocks in a wide variety of industries then you are much less likely to be negatively affected by sudden changes in the value of stocks in specific industries and sectors. While you will still suffer from the loss of value of those stocks, the stocks that you hold in unaffected sectors or industries will continue to hold their value or possibly even increase in value. Remember that diversification does not ensure a profit or protect against a loss.
