How do you guys compensate for side bars that are smaller than 300px?

    There's only 2 options, a 300x 250 or the larger 338 ( or what ever it is).

What do you use when you want to display in an area that is not quite big enough and cuts off the edge of the ads?

How about using the 120x120 square ad?

On side bars, I used to think bigger was better. But for me, the 160X600, at the top, performs
quite well. It actually does not look too small, and 270 would be a nice fit.

You have to think about what else you have in the sidebar. Do those things fill the sidebar
from side to side? If not, then one big ad filling in it would look out of place. Make the sidebar
    look natural.

Yeah, but then it looks orphaned. Should I use 2 side by side or in a 4 block...but what about it showing duplicate ads?

Yes, everything else fills the sidebar. and If you cram the 300x250 in there the edge is clipped.
