    Can somebody point me in the direction of a good free content management system that is seo-friendly? I thought about phpnuke, but I don't want to have "?module=" in the URL, I want clean urls only.

    You can use php nuke with GoogleTap...that makes it better.

    I think the best SEO friendly script is wordpress...not necessarily a portal though.

    Joomla (the new mambo) has a built in SEF (search engine friendly URL) and you can get 3rd party ones that improve on that.

    yes, its a fork from the original Mambo, so technically the code has been around for years, if now only repackaged differently.
    you can upgrade from Mambo to Joomla 1.0.5 with few issues.
