    In IE
    >tools
    >internet options
    >connection

That is the connection settings for IE so I would have a look around and make sure your LAN is set as Automatically Detect Settings.

I'd run a complete scan of your system to make sure you haven't caught a bug while surfing around with IE. Ad-aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, and SpySweeper would be the ones I would recommend and I actually use all 3 on my 2 systems. Next I'd do a virus scan.

Let us know how things work out and good luck.

Make sure any firewall you have is TEMPORARILY disabled  before trying to connect. (this will rule out any firewall probs).

Check for any updates to your version of IE, sometimes an update to software will fix certain problems.:)

sounds like a trojan I have removed from a couple of peoples computers....
I had to search the net for the answers while tracking what was running on their computers. Usually they also had all the great spyware on their computers too, like smilies, screensavers, etc...

what a pain, if that is what you caught
