Big PSD Issue

Discussion in 'Photoshop' started by Aliniuz2, May 3, 2009.

    Hey Guys.

I created yesterday all day a complex website design and after I've finished it I saved it and gone to bed. Today, when I woke up and tried to open the PSD it appears a black page with red dots (in the layer box is only a locked layer, with the black image).

I tried to use some PSD recovery and repairing software but they are inefficient. I gave the PSD to a friend and he stayed 5 minutes to wait for loading extensions and fonts (the PSD file is 13MB) and finally it rendered the same black page with red dots.

I desperately need the page, is there anything to do? I'm willing to pay, no problem. I just want my work back.
    Thank you in advance.

It seems your PSD file is not saved completely or perfectly, Did you shut down or any restarts during the file saving process.

No, I saved the document, closed Photoshop and then shut down.

Did you look in your TEMP directory? Sometimes you'll find a dump of your PSD in there after Photoshop has closed badly/crashed etc..

I know this won't help you now, but when I'm working on something important (over a few hours) I save it with a different file name every half hour or so.. e.g myfile01.psd, myfile02.psd etc... just in case a file is damaged, or if I go off on some dead end design tangent.

Maybe you should upload your 13mb PSD and see if anyone here can open it?

I downloaded it and tried a few repair utilities, but didn't have any luck.

    I think you've lost your file :(

Oh, please don't tell me that. :(
The layers and the content has to be there, somewhere stocked in the file! Look at the file size...

Not much better, it's just bigger, not clearer :( Hopefully you can at least salvage your design ideas from the preview.

Nice, Thanks. So vista can recognize the file's preview, so the content is there. :D
God bless you guys if you find my layers.

Photoshop saves and embeds a thumbnail image into the PSD, that's where the preview images are from.

I really don't think you're going to get your layers back.
