Amen to that. There is good in the worst of us

No really... Not a bad word about what they've done so far... just speculating that they could do so much more if they weren't determined to stay in the "fortune 500" even after all the good deeds.

Maybe I'm an old cynical... so be it. There's enough taxes in my life as it is (50+ %) so I am not gonna say that they are outdoing themselves.

They - as opposed to most of the rest of us - have the oppertunity to really make a difference, and should be jugded accordingly.

Just my 2 cents.

 

I agree. The money is wasted since it is partioned by mutiple middle men. Very little actually reaches the people, and the money could be spent on say for the families of Iraq troops which is a better cause.

I have never really liked the concept of philanthopry in general. It never seems to benefit those who REALLY need it most and it is usually done to fulfill an ego rather than out of goodness of your heart. Kinda like the communists who promised 'equal wealth' and a 'pot of rice on each table' but stripped the people of their freedoms at the same time.

 

Crazy_Rob, it is obvious to me that you are not a very wealthy person, nor do you understand the mind of wealthy people. You've clearly never read the "Art of War" "The Prince" or "The Secret To Power." If you had we wouldn't be here debating this.

You are just like most of the sheep like cattle, believing everything the rich and powerful say, groveling to them like a slave.

Most Americans who ran out to buy the Xbox 360 when it came out are too stupid to realize that Gates had the piece of junk cheaply manufactured in China, a country that enslaves their own people. Microsoft also helps China "police" the net. Real democratic.

Bill Gates laughs at people like you. People like Gates see you and me as being their slaves. They laugh at you and call you a stupid moron behind close doors.

If I had the money Gates has I would do REAL things. Not BS like plunging African countries into poverty by trying to "research" diseases.

Here is one more illustration for you people who "believe Bill and Melinda Gates are God's gift to the world."

When the UN or other organizations go over to African countries and bring food and water, they set up camps for some of the refugees. The people have food, and naturally the women get pregnant and have children.

But the Aid doesn't last forever, and once the Aid groups leave, the problem is compounded because now you have mothers who can't feed their children so the situation gets worse!

If you can't understand that you're a complete idiot. That is an example of how giving "aid" can actually hurt.

 

I'm now convinced that you have some kind of cognitive disorder.
