If it is true that blogs rank higher than websites quicker then tell me why?

I have read a number of places that it is easier to build traffic and rank higher on search engines with a blog rather than a website so as a result it is better to make a article oriented blog that has articles in the field website products are about and sent those people to your regular website to build traffic and buy. If all that is true then do I put text links that are keywords that link back to my website, just say related products are available and give my web address at the bottom of each article, or is there another way to link back. I also want to know if these articles should go in a post in a blog, pages on a blog or were?

Blogs don't necessarily rank higher, its just that most of the blog softwares are pretty much flexible to Search Engine Optimization and really easy to add content to. Also they have neat codes, H1, Title etc. all SEO stuff piled out well etc. Nothing much more.

In my experience, one of the fastest ways to go to a decent page rank quickly is with a blog. The blog needs to be topical (ie relevant to your topic but not really about your product) and it needs to be integrated with Technorati tags, set up w/SEO urls, good seo categories, (all can be done for free w/Wordpress plugins and advanced settings). Shoot, just by making sure your titles and categories use good keywords, you'll see Google traffic.

If you comment on similar blogs you'll get more traffic and by linking to like-minded bloggers you'll increase your chances of getting linked to. Bloggers like to link...

I've never started a blog that within 3-4 mos wasn't at least a page rank 4 site. It's not difficult. I'd shoot for 5 articles a week (100-400 wds) for the first month and then at least twice a week after that. You'll need to be able to ping the engines daily and a daily posting will do that. You can also set up daily del.icio.us postings and that also pings the engines w/really no work on your part.

To link back to your product site you can either use the 'sponsored by blah blah.com' approach or just place a link back to your company in the sidebar and in some of the articles. If you go too heavy w/linking back to the site you'll diminish the respectability of the blog and decrease your link-getting chances and lower your traffic.

    Good luck!
