A fork was considered new technology.

To have technology vs books doesn't really make sense.

The youth these days don't read books but rather waste all their time on technology as books slowly die - people are getting dumber and dumber.

Reading books is a good way to learn, coz you can do it calmly and learn.

Technology diverts you towards other things too, not letting you learn, but get derailed very easily

When books meet technology - You get eBooks.

Technology doesn't replace books, it makes them more portable....

I do not agree that new technology 100% better than the book, because with a book anyone can create a new technology ....

I don't see how we can argue about two completely different aspects of life, but I'll try to talk about it the best way I understood your opening post.

If I had to choose between the era wherein the leisure time was books, compared to the era of today wherein we have access to the internet and so many resources at our disposal, I'd pick the "technology" era, or just the 21st century, plain and simple. No need to call it the technology era :p
