Boonex Dolphin review?

Thanks for posting your test site. It looks pretty decent. I can't see any bugs offhand, maybe I'll do a trial myself!

Do they have any good templates available for free? I wouldn't want to use that default one.

 

well, I have nothing right now. I decided to use the default one.

There are free ones at their site but it looks pretty bad the better looking ones are expensive.

nope not smarty, they used their own way of templating.

Found 2 bugs, uploading music/video crashes my browser.. , Also the page refreshes itself every few minutes, this could be bad for adsense

Have a look at modmysite.com and GPLdate. I think Dolphin software was often slated but I had no problems with it on quite a busy site. If I remember correctly it wasn't that friendly to do mods and stuff but if you have the right experience then shouldnt be that bad to become familiar with.

I am using Dolphin on my site, have been using it for 15mths the old one had lots of bug and problems. the new 6v seems to be ok, touch wood. I have been on 6v since sept 2007 with no bugs, have a look at onlytruelove.com
I had a new template to jazzed it up a bit, chinese language added. all ok now

 

Nah... Lots of bugs... Bad Script. 1 Star out of 5. actually just half a star.

 

It has great features that you do not see with other software packages.

 

The problem with this is that they keep on adding features and leaving the bugs behind.

Why? Dolphin is good but still can use much improvement.The company ignores all emails.WTF?

 

Dolphin is the most sh!t script i have seen , its riddled with stuff u cant understand they have loads of stuff that we don't need and loads of stuff thats doesn't work and too much hard to edit its a NO NO for me

 

Save The Dolphin! Say Not To SHIT SCRIPTS that would lead Dolphins to extinction.

 

I use 6.0.0003 and did some modification and it looks awesome. The only problem I have currently is ORCA forum not working.

 

Interesting set of reviews, most negative. So here is my ten pence worth:

1. Script is Free and Support sucks! What do you expect for a free script? if you join their contributors section (which is how they make their money) the support is actually quite good, although by no means perfect.

2. Bugs, yup they are there, but not on a massive scale.

I have done a couple of sites now and not had any real issues. Although I will say that I am scared to upgrade the current version to V6 just incase!! If you wanna see a good site that is using it chekc out http://www.killingkittens.com

 

Any one bought the edition free of ads. Its really an amazing script.

 

Is'nt this the same just w/o the software credits?

 

Brief review. Dolphin has many features, but most of them are not fully implemented or could use better implementation. Many of the complaints by people are something like "I really like this feature but why can't I do X with it."
