Ah, I keep forgetting just how smart Bush is! He stole TWO elections, caused 9/11, took out two auto manufacturers, hides Iraqi oil in his basement and only people with intellect above the average American are capable of seeing it. Thanks for pointing that out!

Why isn't anyone talking about oil sands in Alberta? Jesus Christ, they have more oil in our own back yard than there is in the middle east. Why the hell aren't we telling opec to suck it and build a pipline from Alberta to the US and be done with it?

Yeh, because we haven't threatened Iran, Syria or Palestine have we?

You really are a nut. Gas is currently in the $2.50's and rising every week here. It's been all the way up to $2.90 as some points. And the "average 16 gallon tank" is bogus. Maybe average for a small sports car. Not for a family sized mini-van or an SUV. Average is filling up once a week - hahaha... where do you get this from? In the real world, most people are filling up 2x or more per week...

My gas tank only holds 4.5 gallons, and I fill up less then once a week.
I also pay less then $2.50 a gallon, even for premium.

I'm pretty sure I live in the real world, and count towards those averages.

Not that I'm aware of. But then they aren't the entire arab world are they? It's nice to see who you support though

If it was at 2.90 previously, how could it be rising every week if it's at 2.50 there now? Gas is higher in some parts of the country than others. It's not that high where I am. 16 gallon is average size, but do the math at a 20 gallon tank. If everyone has an SUV then why is ford/gm having such a hard time with SUV sales? You don't think these things through, eh? Even then, at twice a week, as I pointed out, the price of a big mac combo meal. Good Gawd, let me cash in my stocks and bonds...I can't afford a combo meal at Mickie Ds!

2.90 previously = after hurricanes it finally shot down a little bit (oil profits were only making 500 million a day so we had to go start in with Iran and get oil back up to $70/barrel ;) and keep those profits raising)

I think you're forgetting the 12% of American families who go home hungry every night (the price of a big mac is a lot for them) and the 9% of families at risk (on the verge of going hungry too).

    http://www.stopthehunger.com/hunger/hunger.html

To middle class and lower class families with mouths to feed and very limited budgets an extra $10-20 a week makes a large difference. To families who have big SUVs with 25-35 gallon tanks NOT 16 an extra $50-100/week is a huge problem.

    31 gallon x $2.50 x 4 weeks = $310/month
    31 gallon x $1.50 x 4 weeks = $186/month
    ----------------------------------------
$124/month difference in $1 price increase.

And for those of us in the real world, where families of 4 are doing a lot of driving around, filling up 2x a week isn't abnormal...

    62 gallon x $2.50 x 4 weeks = $620/month
    62 gallon x $1.50 x 4 weeks = $372/month
    ----------------------------------------
$248/month difference in $1 price increase.

    $248 x 12 months = $2,976.00

So where are these families getting an extra $3,000 a year? Certianly not from our "booming" economy that's laying off people left and right ;)

Previously, but not now? So there is no credit when the price of gas goes down, only when it goes up. That's about what I would expect from you. Who started with Iran? I know it was not Iran itself, developing nukes against the world's desires, and I'm sure the EU and IAEA wasn't working together for a peaceful solution and I'm sure it wasn't their nutjob president who repeatedly calls for the destruction of Israel.

Nope, hungry people were not part of the equation. Once you realize how little the math adds up in terms of gas prices and that we're talking about a big mac combo meal at most in fluctuation, you find it beneficial to further include hungry people to reinforce your moaning. Problem is, it doesn't fit. You expect a perfect world, there is no such thing. Your whining can never change that, no matter who is in office. People have been hungry here and around the world long before gas was ever invented.

Wrong. If they can't afford a big SUV, they shouldn't own it. Pure and simple.

Looks good, if you presume everyone has an SUV. As I previouly pointed out, and as you previously skimmed right over, if everyone (or even most) had one, ford/gm SUV sales would be in a slump. Think about it.

When's the last time we saw 1.50 gas? Early to mid 90s? You expect the price to be the same forever? That being the case, I'm truly hurt that gas is not .39 cents a gallon. How unreasonable is it for me to think gas should never go up in price, since I remember it at .39 cents per gallon? You can't compare numbers from 10 years ago and not think inflation doesn't exist.

Who is "us?" You're 21. You have a family and four kids? If you can't afford the gas guzzling SUV, don't buy it! How much common sense does it take? If you have to drive that much to get to work, move! My wife fills up once a week. My son fills his car up once a week. Two cars, filled up once per week. My old gas guzzlin truck is filled up once per month because I don't drive it much. If I had to drive my truck 60 miles each way every day, I'd sell it and get something more affordable. Common sense.

Not everyone wants to be a professional victim.

Well, I have to, though I certainly don't feel my back is against the wall. It's all in a day's fun to me! You can't seem to help making up your own little reality, including the above comment, so I tend to treat you like the joke you are! If the voices in your head are not happy about it, you may be qualified for free medical care. I'd be happy to help you find it!

Yes after gas continually rises to outrageous prices, then hits a huge spike, and gos back to its outgrageous price - there is no credit... makes sense

You're right. A family of 4 or 5 should cram everyone into a 2-seat sports car with a 16 gallon tank

Yes, that's right, because poor and middle-class families who work in rich areas can afford to buy $500,000-$750,000 houses.

Hell you're a natural genious Gtech! What if everyone lived right next to their work! We'd have no more rush hour and save billions in gas!!! Why didn't anyone think of this!? Gtech for president!!!

Bush's state of the union address was a complete joke. His idea for alternative energy is something I've never heard of, and is an insult to my intelligence.

Why? Because how in heck is a type of grass going to be used as an alternative energy source? How much energy can you get from it?

What the president needs to look at is MHD(magneto hydrodynamic) energy, dry rock geothermal plants, wind power, or low cost photovoltaic cells.

Bush's idea of using any type grass to power anything is the complete joke, and just shows his lack of aptitude for science.

Bush should do himself a favor and go pick up a book on Nikola Tesla, Viktor Shauberger, T Henry Moray, and then come back and talk about alternative energy.

The reason why gasoline/oil costs so much is because people are dependent on it. People are dependent on it because the big corporations produce a "demand" for it by manipulating the market.

Americans and people all over the world need to understand that gasoline/oil is a primitive form of energy. For a civilization to advance, they need to be able to generate fantastic amounts of energy in order to power their machines.

Sorry Dubya, but a type of "grass" isn't going to get us into interstellar space, and will not cheaply bring energy into the home of every person.

GTech just can't see the fact that the American people were set up for this fall!

We are all commuting to work from the suburbs which has been a trend for the last 20 years, we are all driving big SUV's and Pickup Trucks...

Then some Greedy Houston oil men (Exxon & Cheney) come up with the idea on a profit projection spreadsheet showing that if they can triple the cost of gas, they could generate Trillions of dollars of profits from this American trend....:D

With the side benefit of destroying GM & Ford forcing them to reduce wages to survive, busting the UAW union and costing millions their pensions they worked their entire lives for.....

All Republican goals = cancer on America
