    Hi All,

I am thinking about purchasing a website.
In my view the website seems pretty good
    and some potential.

This will be my first purchase of a website.

What sort of questions do i need to ask the seller?

And how can I protect myself from getting ripped off
and if the site is banned from google?

Also the site is running 8 months and it has no PR, but
the site gets http://need2upload.com/v1/uploads/5d461469f9.png this sort of traffic.

    Does anything look suspicoius.

    Thanks Guys...

If ranking in Google is a priority, I would stay away from something with a blank PR bar just out of sensible policy. However it is an image hosting site which hardly relies on rankings, right? But that is a bit of a warning flag about the domain.

You can check if something is banned in AdSense by using an Adsense Preview Tool (google it) and then seeing if ads are displayed with the URL of the page. You'd probably do better with YPN or Adbrite anyway.

Also, image hosting traffic is relatively worthless... it may be a lot of users, but what are they there to do? Look at images... for free. They're not looking to purchase and pretty much have to be tricked to clicking on ads. Don't buy the site expecting that traffic to turn into thousands (or even hundreds) of dollars per month. While there may be unique users, you have to ask what they're on the site for. They will use a ton in bandwidth costs looking at images -- making it difficult to turn a profit.

I would be concerned about an 8 month old site with no PR.

Inquire with the seller why there isnt any toolbar PR.

hahahah well I can't comment on the quality of the traffic if you don't post the URL... 300 uniques coming in on the term "buy life insurance" are infinitely more valuable than 300 uniques coming in looking for "britney pics"

If you're spending over $1000 and/or the seller doesn't have a well established reputation, I'd use escrow.

Yea proxy sites get the same exact warnings as image upload sites... what are people there to do?

And it looks like it is owned by the same person as need2upload and they both have a blank bar. I'd stay away unless it is under $150 or so.

ok, thanks for the advice Hoff... he was looking for 500, but my bid was 350, and he accepted, i just thought i could earn back within a few months... And i used the adsense preview tool and said the site could use ads :)

Would you not invest in something like this for the stats provided???

Well how much is he making from it vs. the costs to run per month?

It seems he is unwilling to put ads on it or unwilling to give the stats of ads vs. bandwidth costs, right? That sounds fishy to me... like it probably doesn't make money as is. I would not invest in 300 uniques per day at $350.. I wouldn't even pay $50 for it... it has no PR (questionable domain or indexing) and the users are next to useless for monetization.

If you have a good deal on hosting, proxy sites can be a good profit. Otherwise they will probably run you a huge bandwidth bill.

I agree. 300 unique visitors a day isn't much. You can create a new site and come up with this kind of traffic in a month or so.
