Calculating suspected sales volumes?!

    I am looking to start a store selling a number of health and beauty items.

    I have agents I know in China who are getting me the base price so my landed cost is as good as anyones and the products are good.

    My question is, how will ebay initially rank me. If I start selling catterpillars, will I be on an equal standing in terms of search results for 'caterpillars' as someone who has been a catterpillar power seller for years?!

    As far as I know ebay will not favour anyone in the rankings because they are more established, and therefor from day one, as long as my prices were fair, I would come up in the searches an equal number of times as existing competitors?!

    Is this right. I just want to know how to calculate potential sales volumes based on competitors before I commit to orders.
