can i expense outsourced work

    hello guys,

    i am about to do my taxes and was wondering if i can expense the outsourced work. i had a guy who did some design work for me and was wondering if i can put it on my tax return.

    Yes you can deduct all your 'business' expenses from your income to figure your adjusted gross income. My advice is to get a file where you keep the printed receipts from paypal and make an excel file to keep up with these if you have a lot of online transactions or there are other software programs that will help you, but mainly make sure you print it out for your records in case of an audit. If you work from home you can use form 8829 to help reduce your tax liability, also. :) Good luck with your taxes!

    Absolutely! Just did mine (and a huge amount goes towards outsourcing).

    Just make sure you 1099 if they are domestic.
