Can i make a ecommerce site

I have some basic knowledge about php, can i make a ecommerce website using joomla. Is it easy to using like wordpress plugin and theme. Need advice. Thanks.

 

Folks always argue with me about this but I really think joomla is an unusable mess. I would go with wordpress since you can easily churn out copy and if you use this http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/eshop/ you will have some very sound code. The fellow who wrote that plugin is a stud in the accessibility world.

If you need to do something high end I would take a look at Magento or Prestashop. Prestashop is faster, very easy to use and design as well.

Yes i am intended to do a ecommerce site. Is there any security risk with wordpress.

 

No more so than anything else on the internet. That said though, wordpress is one of the best apps on the web.

Design by yourself is always a better solution if you're building an unique site. Building a Prestashop template is very easy since they used smarty.

some says its easy, some says its very easy to setup one but to tell you honestly, it is not Easy

Firstly, you need a platform
you decided to go with Wordpress and with E-commerce script, so you can easily install it, then you realize that using it is like a blog with paypal checkout plugin, so now you decided to your a real e-commerce platform aka OSCommerce, magento, OSCmax, Zencart and etc. Now you spend a lot of money to developing your wordpress e-commerce site and you come back to budgeting to develop a new site, Its costly because you need to hire a freelance to do it, install, setup, implement layout then import products then install payment modules, its not a month development, you need 2-3 months to let it up and running.

So have you decided which platform you want?
