Like I was thinking of putting up tourist information for the city I'm from. But my site is a torrent search website. Can, not keeping with the theme hurt a site?

Plus, why would your readers want to see that? I would stay away from that.

As a website owner, you are a business owner.

A business owner should provide the most value to their clients and customers.

    Value being

    1) a solution to a problem they are experiencing.
    2) something that directly benefits their situation

If you think there is some value in this information you want to provide them, then go ahead and provide it.

But when you provide it, make sure you TELL them WHY you are providing it.

Most people don't know what they don't know, and if you can guide them and show them the way... they'll appreciate it, and look to you as someone they can trust. And all a sale is, is a conveyance of trust.

    Hope that helps,

    Brian.

when i first saw the title of your post i was going to say 'sure, it's fine'.. my site has very wide-ranging topics..
    BUT
then i read the whole thing, and those topics are just toooo far apart..
get a new domain and put the tourist info on it instead.

just buy a seperate domain, and attach it to a folder on your current host, it wont be very costly, and that way you can be sure you wont effect your primary site, your torrent one
