Can you list pdf files in sitemaps? If so is this a good idea?

    I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. google does index pdfs. however, I personally prefer to have a landing page for that PDF (where I can show ads, where they can see what the rest of the site offers, etc) rather than have them index the pdfs directly. so I generally disallow indexing of PDFs, although this isn't the case with every site.

    If you have urls within your pdf's they will get indexed as well.
