Change company name...?

Okay so I own Sensation Designs, which I started off doing web design.

I know do web design, programming, sell products and more computer-related tech services.

I feel "Sensation Designs" doesn't really apply as much anymore, and am thinking of changing the name... does anyone have any suggestions for a new name?

 

If you've already put a lot of work into branding, then I'd go with something like "Sensation Media".

I would recommend you to start a new brand for each service,
Each service can be part of Sensation Network.

"The Origins Of Brands" by Al Ries is a book that i've read that talks about branding and divergence in brands. you can read about it here: http://www.ries.com/Books/index.cfm?Page=RM-Origin_Brandsp.

It will be better to launch a diffrent website for each service that you offer because clients will choose a product by it's brand, the more it fit their needs, the better.

Example:
A client want to submit his website to directories of adult content, now he stumbled across these brands:
1. Sensation WebServices - we are doing everything over here
2. DirectorySubmit - a service that submits your website to any category you choose!
3. AdultSubmit - send your x-rated website to directories.

which one will he choose?
I'm sure it's the last one.

Wouldn't it be "difficult" to have all these various companies names, even if they all operate under a central company?

How exactly would it work... being very small, I really don't want to add so much more trouble dealing with separated taxes and everything....

 

This is pretty much similar to exactly what we did. It has helped tremendously since the branding is almost the same and of course the name is the same

 

What are your "subcompanies" and what do each do?

Each business has to be registered, no? But is it perhaps different if it is operating totally under another company... I don't want to go register 5 businesses and have to handle each one's legalities separately...

Sorry I missed your question SDesigns. Mainly all web development, ecommerce, hosting, and 800-numbers. My business partner sometimes gives some advice on starting up as an LLC, etc. So all small business start-ups. All the sub-companies are just ran under the umbrella of one.

Triexa / hexaga sound interesting and probably pretty easy to spell.

 

Hexaga is the best of these names. (dont use neofaze, that one is really bad )

I personally think Triexa is better than Hexaga.... it kind of rolls of the tongue better, don't you think?

 

Have the main operating entity... and just create divisions for each segment of business. You can file a DBA for with the State corporation commission to make it legal to just operate with that division name or just say "Segment X a division of xyz company".
