You might honestly have better luck trying to setup an affiliate/review site that reviews the laptops. I'm pretty sure that CompUSA and Newegg both have affiliate programs. NewEgg give 2% of every purchase. This might honestly work out to be a better profit margin (you don't have to deal with scammers, etc.). Just an idea.

    No one has medtioned Bangkok!

I saved $600 buying my new Sony laptop from BKK, compared to prices in the UK. Head on over to Pan-Tip Plaza.

If you buy more than 1, 5 or 10, you will get very good discounts.

I think SEOBangkok was saying about going in the stores to get the notebooks. I doubt they have them online for sale outside of Thailand. Besides the shipping cost may be prohibitive to make it worth while.

My issue is really how are you going to provide technical support. Laptops from Thailand may be loaded with the Thai version of the OS which may not sit well with people in your country.

You would need deep pockets to make this successful. It is best if you actually bring in a container load or more. Then set up a local support centre to repair and provide technical support or at least purchase those with international warranty and that they provide support in your country.

You do know that you need quite a big amount of money to get this started ,right ?
Think of having to buy laptops to have something to show off in your site , advertising your site on Romanian portals, gaming websites etc. . Also , you'd need to set up a company so that you are operating legally . Have you wondered how much cheaper your laptops would be compared to other suppliers (ro:asa se zice la furnizori in engleza ;) ) such as UltraPro/e-mag etc. ?
Do your math and a thorough business plan before you even think of actually investing a lot of money in to this.

    PS:
ro: ai putea sa folosesti si tu un program/plugin/add-on care sa faca spell checking pe posturile tale , ca e groaznic de citit :( .

Webmaster, what you need is just to find good prices for laptop somewhere in USA or Europe that is whole thread about. Someone tells that he can get $350 core2duo laptop. And he suggests you sell for what ?.... $400, LMAO. Guys we are talking about 3rd world not USA, there you can sell it for $1200 easily and people will buy. You can get FULL Infiniti FX45 in USA for $40k, in Romania you will get only FULL Honda Accord for this money. See the difference ?

You just need to calculate all expenses including customs and support. It probably not so hard as you think, please don't just give up!!! You compete with the guys only in your town not in the Internet. You can simply find location where you can store them (home or rent some place) and promote to local public in your town. I get such computer things from the guys from my town (their prices are lowest), they organised things well and already bought new Subaru Impreza WRX, so hope it helps:)))) Buy low sell high maybe don't work good in USA but still works great there, hehe.

Same situation with cellphones, little harder but still doable!

    Hello from Ukraine,

There are some good post here.

Until recently, I sold laptops on eBay. I sold a lotttt of laptops. Margins were very low most of the time. Sometimes the shipping was the only profit we would see. Lots of these were International sales, and the buyer would often tell us that even with the shipping and customs fees, the laptop was still much cheaper than purchasing locally, I still sell them locally on a case by case basis for my clients.

    • You may want to purchase the laptops online and sell them locally in Romania versus the Internet. Most of the time local buyers are willing to pay more than eBay members, who want top quality for bottom prices.
    • Think about selling used or refurbished laptops, you could actually buy these on eBay and resale locally.
    • Search the web and find other sources, they're out there, just have to sift through the garbage. usanotebook.com is one we have had very good results from.
    • Your financial transactions may pose a bit of an issue as most eBay sellers (especially for big ticket items) want paypal accounts and are skeptical of other forms of payment, even wire transfers due to scams. Look into escrow services and or establish an account with something like a Netbank that will not charge you for transfers and is an actual bank. (Not sure if available in your country.
