Choosing the right cleaning company

When choosing a cleaning company for your premises it’s essential that you choose a company that is going to give you great value on one hand, but also follows through with an excellent cleaning service. Which invariably means doing what they're paid for and cleaning your property to a standard which you would expect in your own home!

It’s all too easy for a cleaning company to promise the earth for a tiny price but in reality some find that they can’t deliver on their promises. This can leave you with a substandard service, an unhygienic working environment and you looking for replacement with a sour taste in your mouth.

There are lots of companies that try to offer the cheapest price without a clue of how to follow through with an on-going service. The biggest mistake cleaning companies often make is by trying to cut corners on staff by either cutting their hours to maintain a profit or cutting their wages. The biggest commodity a cleaning company has is their staff, which is why maintaining great, fair and well paid working conditions is important. This in turn guarantees happy staff that are happy to keep on working long term and most importantly cleaning sites to the best of their ability.

There are a few simple things to look out for when searching for a new cleaning company to try and make sure you don’t get your fingers burnt.

When you first get a cleaning company to come and give you a quote ensure they listen thoroughly to what you require from their service. Make sure they have a thorough assessment of your premises and what you require. This will also help them to devise and provide the most cost effective package, cut out over inflated timeframes and high hourly rates.

Take all things into account by not only talking about the square meterage or the amount of desks, toilets or bins, but look at how their staff will be able to work to get the best results.

This means that they can work out accurate time-scales and cleaning schedules, which are the basis for their quotes and on-going services.

Make sure they come to you with accurate cleaning schedules. This will ensure they ever need to verify service expectations as it’s there in black and white, aiding performance checks.

Make sure they will be remaining flexible so as to accommodate any changes you may need to make in the future and keeping an open ear to any feedback you may want to give. This listening and adapting will give you the best possible service.

Think about whether they are using environmentally friendly cleaning products. If your company has a specific environmental policy or mandate, be sure they can fulfil any requirements or desires you may have.
