    He wants the EU to form a company that will rival Google and Ebay. I am assuming he wants to create a comapny that has a foothold in various markets i.e. search, auctions, online payment, etc. Basically, he wants to model it on the Airbus, which is a Boeing rival put together by the EU, pricipally, Geramny and France.

    If I had the money, the time, the expertise and the motivation, I might consider something like that myself :p

    Though there is plenty of scope to compete with google, as they along with other search engines are merely pioneers in internet searching. In 5 years, 10 years or heaven forbid 20 years time, if no other main search engine is established I will be extremely surprised.
